Frank Van den Broeck, Fire and Fiction; Museum Beelden aan Zee, The Hague

Imagine you are a god, one without much experience.

You are given some basic materials to create and there is just one command: let your hands improvise while your mind feels the joy and aw of the life you are creating.

You are so amazed at what you make that you hope you will never obtain your official Divine Certificate.

To hell with official divinity as long as you are happy to let the smoke of your fire transform into the most wondrous shapes!

While the Elder Gods tell you that you should be doing some Serious Things now with your abilities, you ignore them.

You just keep on kneading and bending with your hands.

After all, what is there to lose?

Shrug off Henry Moore and immerse yourself in the work of Frank Van den Broeck (1950) at Museum Beelden aan Zee!

Façades of The Hague #164

When i moved into a room near the Leyenburg Hospital in Leyweg, The Hague, for my studies at the Royal Academy in 1977, there was only one tram stop and one bus stop.

If I had  a flat tire or the weather was too bad, the number 6 tram would bring me all the way to the city centre.

Today the hospital and the new housing developments around it are served by a public transport hub with two tram lines and three bus lines.

Henry Moore, Form and Material; Museum Beelden aan Zee, The Hague

To write a review for Villa La Repubblica about the current exhibition with works by Henry Moore (1898-1986) i went to Museum Beelden aan Zee in The Hague. Click here to read the review in VLR (in Dutch).

As I’ve written quite extensively about the show in VLR I just leave you here with some pictures of the exhibition. But it is of course better to go and take a look for yourself.
